Right, but if the rate of change is 2-3 times higher in this specific place, there must be some there contributing factor as it would eventually work towards equilibrium. I decided to take a quick look at the gravity anomaly, and it is interesting to see:

The Solomon Islands(North of Australia in the dark red) are at an anomalous high. From Wikipedia

So we know see level should be higher here already. Now if we are looknig at a change in sea level greater than the average, perhaps the Geoid is changing? Now to see if that is the case...
