1.) He had a really strong group in the Anaheim team who won the cup. A young Perry-Getzlaf, prime Selanne and JSG, prime Pronger-Neidermayer. Just like how Hartley had prime Sakic, Roy, Forsberg, Tanguay. So cup accolades are nice, but there's a footnote next to each that they had hall-of-famers playing for them.
2.) His possession based metrics and defensive play was very suspect in Toronto and part of why he was let go, which are two key areas Treliving mentioned that needed improving.
3.) Him being more of a hard-nosed coach isn't going to be received well especially after Hartley's fresh departure and rumors that he was being tuned out in the locker room.
