Anyway he is not hired yet. I wonder how many other NHL head coaching jobs Carlyle has interviewed for? Has he ever been linked to any since leaving TO? I can't think of any so its interesting in itself that Flames are talking to him.

As FlamesNation pointed out, you absolutely would have to be naive to the point that Burke at the very least didn't say to Treliving you can't consider this guy. So to that point, you can very safely conclude that Burke is comfortable with Treliving hiring Carlyle should Treliving go through his process and decide he's the guy. That I will 100% agree with. If Burke's previous experience with Carlyle had made him decide he wouldn't approve a Carlyle hire, then he'd stop Treliving from wasting his time and Carlyle's.
Anything beyond that, such as statements about this must be Burke's team if we go with Carlyle, or Treliving got pushed in that direction, completely baseless and does not require you to be naive to not see it that way.
