I agree with others saying your stay in Barcelona is too long. You are wise to avoid the south of Spain – the Costa Del Sol is just massive overdeveloped crap for British tourists. That said, the southern mountain regions are quite incredible – Granada to the east and Córdoba and Seville to the west. Along the way there are incredible hilltop villages all through the mountains that will be some of the most beautiful things you ever see. Look up Grazalema de la Sierra for starters. You probably need to drive for these places though so it depends if you're into that kind of adventure.

I think Portugal is very underrated. We were there in March so not high tourist season but we found it very peaceful and beautiful. The West Coast of Portugal is insanely gorgeous in the south. There's a little town right at the southwest corner called Sagres which is an international surfing destination. Nothing much exciting there beyond that but it is gorgeous.

Also Lisbon is cool but I really found Porto to be a much more interesting city. depends what you're looking for I guess – Lisbon is young and has a big party scene, Porto is a bit more grown-up and culturally sophisticated.

Anyway, I'm jealous! I would go back to both places tomorrow
