The only thing that I have found somewhat troubling in all of this is the disconnect between what Treliving and Burke were saying, and what Hartley has said. If you listened to Hartley on the Fan, one thing he answered when it was asked was about the difference in philosophy that Treliving had for the Flames, and the system that was actually put into practice. Hartley said it was news to him that there was a difference of opinion there, and that he worked closely with Treliving.
To me, I think Treliving really wanted to hire his own coach since he got here. Burke gave Hartley the thumbs up, and Hartley had the Flames playing well. Ward was also very highly regarded in the organization and outside of it as well, but Treliving made that change.
I am ok with the change, don't get me wrong. I just find it curious as to who (if anyone) was really either lying or somewhat... confused? Listening to Hartley, I don't have any reason not to believe what he said - he was truly humbling and seemed really honest. Treliving too. Just seems exceptionally weird to have this HUGE (at least I consider it huge) disconnect between the coach and the GM, and it being 'news to the coach'.

I was left with the same feeling after hearing that comment from Hartley. Whose side is correct? Treliving is usually such a straight shooter but in this instance one of these gentlemen is not fully transparent.
It does seem likely that Treliving spoke his mind when in disagreement with Hartley's strategy. Hartley may have simply ignored him and thought all was well.
