If his choice is between Calgary, Ottawa and Minnesota - I would think Calgary has some strong appeal.

It is a Canadian hockey market, and Boudreau has never coached a Canadian NHL team before. That might hold more appeal than Minnesota.

The Flames ownership group and senior management is more stable than Ottawa. Eugene Melnyk is a bit of a wild card and with Bryan Murray having stepped down, Dorion is also new in his GM role.

Whereas the Flames with Murray Edwards et al as owners, King, Burkie and Treliving as senior management - would have to be considered a more stable environment.

Boudreau now knows the Western Conference very well and may prefer another coaching opportunity in the Western Conference in general and the Pacific Division in particular. He would also have the opportunity to stick it to Anaheim more often.

It is also easy to show that the Flames are building a young talented core that is on the verge of being serious contenders in the Pacific.

I like the Flames odds of competing with the Wild and the Sens for the services of Boudreau. Time will tell.
If I'm Boudreau, the only thing preventing me from signing in Calgary is understanding what the plan is to address goaltending.
