Well, if you listened to what Burke said (and believed him), he is leaving it all up to Treliving to manage.

Burke stated that he does interviews 365 days a year. The most candidates he has ever interviewed for a job has been 2. During an interview, the candidate can lose the job if he says something stupid, but he isn't going to get the job because of the interview.

He said that he doesn't know how Treliving is going to run it. He said he may interview 20 candidates, or just have one or two in mind - it will be up to him. Burke will just be part of the process once Treliving finds his guy, as he said that King is part of the process when Burke hires a guy.

From that I would assume that Burke has probably told Treliving about guys whom Treliving is unfamiliar with and are available, but he probably hasn't recommended anyone per se, and I seriously doubt that he will be interviewing or looking for a coach on Treliving's behalf.

This will be Treliving's hire. If he fails, it is on Treliving, even if Burke was to hire someone. The GM is always linked to the coach. I don't think Burke is going to overstep his bounds here. I am sure Treliving would prefer to hire 'his guy' this time around. The organization and media were very high on Troy Ward, even listing him as a strong candidate for the head coaching position before Hartley was hired, and he was looked upon as the 'head coach in waiting'. Treliving got rid of him and got 'his guy'. It is happening at the head coach level now.
