Brian Burke was on the Bob McCowan show this afternoon. I only heard bits and pieces as I was occupied, so I couldn't give a run-down of what was talked about.
I did hear after Brian Burke went off the air that they were talking about Hawerchuk being a very promising up and coming coach. I am all for new blood, but I don't know a single thing about how good or not of a coach Hawerchuk is - but it seemed they think he would get some consideration.
My votes?
Darryl Sutter is at the top of that list if he becomes available.
Nate Leaman - He has done wonders everywhere he goes in the NCAA. I really do think he is on the cusp of possible being the next great 'Babcock-type' coach.
I don't really like Boudreau - yes, he has a great regular season record, but those are some pretty damn stacked teams he coached, and outside of the regular season, he just doesn't get it done. I think a 'teaching' coach would be of benefit (Leaman) or a coach with a very good track record (Darryl Sutter).
