This is definitely a strange feeling. Firstly, in no way shape or form did I expect this to happen, and I thought Hartley should have been given another season based on his track record.
However, I do really like that Treliving puts it on the line. If he sees a weakness, and I believe that in this case it was a weakness that we weren't as privy to rather than simply a systems change, then he addresses it. It makes me confident that he is not going into next season with Wideman as a #4 and Smid/Engelland as 5/6. It makes me confident that he will get a legitimate goalie and help on the right side.
This move sets the clock on his own job, he knows that, and is acting decisively to improve this team. Based on previous moves, I think Treliving and Burke will hire the right man for the job.
