Earls has every right to choose it's suppliers, shouldn't make a difference. Think the dish soap they use is made in Canada? Think the aprons, knives, pots and pans are made in Canada? Why aren't you rallying behind that too?
Just being little babies and looking for something to whine about, sitting their in a shirt made in China, shoes are probably made in India, drinking coffee from South America and eating fruit from the States. But you had better save the Alberta farmers by boycotting Earls.......

I have no documents but i did listen to the President of the Canadian Cattle Assoc (or something like that) on the radio last Thursday a day after all this news broke out.
he had never even heard of this "certification" before. Its something either very new or rarely ever used. He did read the guidelines before appearing on the show and was adamant that Alberta beef not only matched the American standard of "humane" but surpassed it in most cases. They just never thought to make a brand of it...nor should they.
This is nothing more than Earls hiding behind some faux label/marketing ploy in attempt to placate Albertans that the reason they dont sell local product is because it doesnt meet some sort of arbitrary level. That's not the case and they have been caught in their attempt to make it seem that way.
Earls was trying to save money by purchasing this "brand' that has little to do with quality and everything to do with marketing and trying to spin it as something else.
they are going to pay dearly in Alberta for it.
