That was also the year that they tried to draft Bure, but couldn't prove he was eligible.

Combined for 3,418 points.

1979 Nordiques:
20th - Goulet
41st - Dale Hunter
62nd - Norwood
83rd - A. Stastny

1979 will need an asterisks, but the Nords got 3,150 from the draft.

1983 Red Wings:

88th - Kocur

3,036 points.

1971 Canadiens:
1st - Lafleur

11th - Wilson
20th - Robinson

2,822 points that year for the Canadiens draftees.
This is why Calgrypuck is such a great online comunity, thanks buddy.

Looks like we have a couple close challengers, but what I noticed is when you look at the top point producers and where they were drafted, every other teams top scorers were drafted within the top 100 and no one past Fedorov at 74th overall to be exact.

When you look back, Calgary does have some steals in later rounds...
Brett Hull, 117th overall - 1391 points
Theoren Fleury, 166th overall - 1088 points
Gary Suter, 180th overall - 845 points
Hakan Loob, 181th overall - 429 points
Johnny Gaudreau, 104th overall - will get 1,000,000,000 points
