If you are looking for a gas grill, it will cost just under $1K but at that price point, a Weber will last for a couple of decades if properly maintained. I had a Broil King before the Weber and it lasted only about 6 years, though since then their quality may have improved. Broil King is a good brand but I really prefer my Weber.

The Weber is super easy to maintain, flare ups are rare and controllable, and with the new models that extra burner on the left side gives you a high surface temp for searing (mine is much older, doesn't have that).

Avoid the cheap brands, they do not last, are prone to flare ups, and tend to not distribute heat evenly.

Whatever you get, also get a good cover and keep it on at all times you're not grilling.

If you're looking for an actual BBQ, one that burns charcoal, the choices become much more complicated but mr. kajz's recommendation is a good one.

Edit: Also check this out, these guys know their stuff, and have some cheaper models on their list: http://amazingribs.com/BBQ_buyers_gu...as_grills.html
