I've always thought Mason was an interesting option, but why has he been so mediocre his entire career?

Eye-balling the numbers, he appears to be a career .916 save percentage. I feel save percentage is a less subjective stat than GAA, but that's me.

Not bad numbers, so why has he always just been mediocre or Vanilla, if you will.

Well, the guy only has 12 playoff games in 11 years since turning pro.

So he has never carried a team to the playoffs, let alone IN the playoffs.

One could argue his time in CBJ was not so good because of the team in front of him but there's no excuse for him in Philly.

He's not a winner. He's not worth assets.

We need to find a gem like Jones.

Not a Reimer who is Mason 2.0.

A kid who is NHL ready and has been learning from someone who is a proven winner, and has shown the protege how to conduct himself.

Could be Raanta but that depends on Hank. If Lundquist only has a year or 2 in the tank, then Raanta may see a great opportunity in NY and may not leave.

Bishop or Vasilevsky, Vasilevsky preferred.

Murray, maybe. Not proven, won't be getting a chance to show what he is at this level for a while in Pitts. High risk, high reward.

Andersson out of Anaheim.. Has had moderate success with a top 5 team over years..
