I agree but I don't think Ron McLean determined that's how his Sunday hockey show would look.

There is a trend in Canada where advertisers and broadcasters are grabbing on to this notion that Canadian families live and breathe hockey. That's not necessarily wrong by any means but they took that idea and are trying to make everything family friendly. The Scotiabank 5th season commercials make me want to puke. They aren't cute, they're pandering. Same thing with hometown hockey.

Hockey is an intense sport. It's fast. It's full of physicality. That's what people love about the game but instead it's marketed as this butter soft entertainment product that the whole family can sit around their Rogers tablet and watch. That clearly isn't resonating with people.
