There is a serious revenue issue in this province along with spending issue.
It embarrasses me as an Albertan to see people whine about the carbon tax considering our tax burden is by FAR the lowest out of any province in Canada.
Christ, a 5% PST would still leave us by far the lowest tax burden out of any province, and we whine about a carbon tax that is probably gonna be 1% out of everyone's lifestyle.
Regardless, this is still a weak budget, because it accomplishes no goals. I'd have more respect if they spent a bit more political capital to implement PST along with the carbon tax, while also cutting public spending (on teachers and nurses etc.) at the same time.
