Not at all unfair. And it is important to point out that there are HUGE differences between conducting natural science and social science. Although I will say the social sciences have gotten much better, more rigorous, interesting and useful over the course of the past several decades. In the end, those of us who engage in social science remain painfully aware of its limitations; but that is really the important part here: so long as I am aware and can see the flaws in my own observations and models, then the danger of developing a misplaced hubris in the precision of my study is avoided.
