Well, tonight I think I created about 10 new swear words. The doors on the Jeep were pretty seized up. So after an hour per side of penetrating oil on the hinges and then 20 'Waves' of the door..... Rinse/repeat, I finally got them free. Yay? Not so fast. Good luck extracting the bushings from the female side of the hinge. Anyway after 3 hours, I went from this:
To this:
There was tons of salt and oxidation under the old factory hinges and the looked almost 'swollen'. Chiseled off the salt, used a mini disk on a dremel and cleaned them down to bare metal. A quick coat of bedliner in a can to seal it up, and tomorrow or Monday, these stainless steel powder coated fancy shmancies go on.
Pulled the rear bumper off, and had to deal with a little rust issue. The truck is clean everywhere, except for this one spot, where it looks like a crappy body repair was done. Got out the cone wheel, and a couple grinding disks, took it down to fresh metal, and just bondo'd it up. Just gonna rattle can it tomorrow to a 25 foot standard. Just need to seal it up, since I'm putting a set of steel corner guards on that will cover it anyway.
Bask in my horrid bodywork.
For the hour I spent on it, it'll do, since these are gonna cover it anyway:
Top quality pieces. Powder coated heavy guage stainless.
And this is my poor Jeep with its face torn off. I'm going to spray line the grill black, plus it will make the winch wiring a cinch.
