So like any good build, start from the ground up. Had a bit of an issue with doing a 4" lift, so we backed it off to 2.5" using a better kit. We used the Rubicon Express kit with monotube shocks and new springs. Put on Pacer 164 17" wheels, and 33" Sigma Mud Claw tires. Wasn't super keen on the tires, as I like to stick to the big brand names, but being a budget build, I couldn't say no to the price our parts manager at the VW dealer I work for lined up. Reviews seem to be above average, and at $1800 for wheels and tires x 5. I feel like the rims were free. Everything I was looking at names Good Year and Bridgestone was $1800+ for tires alone at dealer cost.

Anyway, this is where we are at. I might add another 1" of lift via a coil spacer, but haven't decided yet.

This afternoon I'm going to pick up a half ton full of bumpers, fenders, side steps and a winch and will be plugging away at the stuff I can handle. I have the next 5 days off and want to get the heavy lifting done.
