The Pittsburgh Penguins are raedy to roll for the upcoming CPHL season. The team named their captains for teh upcoming season at a recent press conference.


Captain: Saku Koivu

Koivu is the leader on and off the ice for the Penguins. He will be expected to lead the team in all situations this upcoming season.

Alternate Captain: Scott Niedermayer

New addition Scott Niedermayer will be counted on to log big minutes and anchor the Pens defense. Pens management feel that with Niedermayers experience and skill he should help lead teh team to a new level.

Alternate Captain: Chris Chelios

The Ageless wonder Chris Chelios will suit up for his second year as a member of the Penguins. Chelios was by far the best dman on the ice for the Pens last season. Chelios's leadership extends well beyond his on ice play as he was one of the most vocal players in the dressing room last season.

Alternate Captain: Chris Higgins

The surprise choice of the group, Higgins has lead by example all throughout the preseason and training camp. His responsible play at both ends of the ice and his rapport with his teammates make him an easy choice. Higgins was shocked to learn of this appointment, and promises to do his best to lead this team to the next level.
