I go to Vegas in the summer for pool season and generally love the heat and 40+ degree weather, but I know the humidity is much higher in Mexico than Vegas.

I've been to the Mayan Riviera in July. That was probably the hottest place I've ever been in my life. I've been there in March and it's nowhere near as hot as July. Anywhere that isn't in the near vicinity of the water is extremely muggy due to the humidity (and no ocean breeze). We did a day tour zip lining in the jungle and it was so hot while on the way back they pulled over the vehicle so people could jump into a cenote (pool of water) so people could cool off.
That being said it was still a blast and I would go back there in July. The resorts weren't busy at all. Just make sure you use a TON of sunscreen. It's similar to Vegas in July just much more humid.
