He has a 2.62 GAA with a .908 SV% this year. This is pretty much bang on with his career numbers in the NHL. I think some people think he is better than he really is because our goaltending has been so poor this year, but those numbers are nothing to write home about.
He's essentially a replacement level player. Sign him for less than $1M for a year or two and he can back-up. I think it's wishful thinking to hope he'll turn into something much better than this, and to pay him north of $1M is just bad cap management.
