I usually never hold it against a player if they choose money over winning because some of these guys need to earn as much as they can so they can retire comfortably. But Iginla has made so much money that I kind of lost a bit of respect for him when he signed that deal.

Yeah but you have to remember that at the time he signed it Colorado were a team on the upswing. They just won the central division title with a young core of Duchene, O'Reilly and Mackinnon who won the Calder as well as Vezina-nominated Varlamov. It was not far fetched to think the Colorado would be a contending team over Iggy's tenure. Of course it hasn't worked out that way, but I can't blame Iggy for signing a longer term deal with what looked at the time to be a young team on the verge of contending.
