I'm hoping a couple of things happen next yer for the goalie position.
1. Don't bring in a slew of goalies. Throwing a ton of mud on the wall to see what sticks doesn't work. This season proved that.
2. Any goalie you bring in needs to be here 3 years. If it ends up being an Elliott type, it's ideal because the pendulums will swing to the younger guys by the end of the term.
3. Joni Ortio has earned his spot next season. Anoint him the #2 and forget about it. Your #3's will be the Stockton duo (Hopefully Lyon/Gillies but we'll see).
4. Look at other goalie coaching options. Nik Backstrom seems to have the head for it. I am convinced that part of the problem was a bad meshing of coach and goalies this year. Maybe Sigalet isn't bad and he isn't great, but the fit for so the very different styles of the 3 goalies may not have been great for him.
