I think the Flames are in a position now where they need more solid goaltending for this group to take the next step. We're no longer in the part of the rebuild where you just drift along, dredging up draft picks, and looking forward to the future. While we're not set by any means, we're in the part of the rebuild where we have some good assets in position, and need to start trending up.

Last year was an anomaly. This year was a stutter. Next year has to be a step forward. Whoever the goalies are next year don't have to be franchise centerpieces...but they do have to provide solid enough goaltending to not become a distraction for the progress of everyone else.
