When you burn it to the ground as they have it will take years to rebuild. They may gradually get good enough to get into the playoffs in 3 years or so, but to be a contender to win it all? 5 years....minimum and likely longer...yes.
I mean where are the defensemen coming from? There is Reilly and Gardiner....and?
A bigger question mark is who is the goaltender? Bernier? LOL!
Up front there is JVR, Kadri (and who knows how long he remains a Leaf) Komorov and Nylander.
I dont think you realize how far behind the curve the Leafs are and how deep the holes go.
truly gonna take years and years to get out of it.

The media isn't doing Leafs fans any favours speaking like they are a team that is just as far as the Flames, Jets and Oilers in their rebuilds. They are at the very least two years behind all those teams in the rebuilds. Just because a veteran coach got a team full of NHL castoffs to play respectable hockey en route to a 29/30 finish doesn't mean they will be able to plug a bunch of young guys in with a veteran or two and things will just work out. There's lots of ups and downs and it doesn't happen quickly.
