Guys usually only have value as long as teams see NHL potential in them. Their minor league stats aren't necessarily the best indicator of it. I'm guessing nobody really believed strongly that he'd be an NHLer. And for good reason as he hasn't become an NHLer. Nobody is going to trade picks just because a guy is a good minor leaguer. It's weird though, the conditions of the pick almost make it less likely he'd be recalled which hurts the player's NHL chances.
