I'm a bit disappointed that this offshoot from the gear grinding thread ended up being solely about the ethics of eating meat.
I'm a person that really enjoys eating meat. I probably enjoy it a bit too much, to be perfectly honest. I definitely think I eat more beef than is good for me. I was kind of hoping for some discussion on the purported health benefits of eating a bit less meat and dairy, even if you don't plan to ever actually cut it out entirely.
I actually watched the entire video that SHOGUN posted in the gear grinding thread. I thought the lecture in general was terrible and the lecturer was a gigantic #######, and even though his presentation of meat alternatives was equally awful, it got me thinking. Surely there has to be better products out there, right? What he showed was a suite of products that all seemed designed to allow people to continue to eat unhealthy food like pizza and deep fried junk without actually eating meat. Seems like I might as well just keep eating home-cooked chicken breast if that's what's out there.
Is it worth opening yet another thread to discuss that kind of thing?
