Yeah, I thought over the entire lunch hour about how to play that. I was almost sure you had 19 so regardless of what I played, you would have to guess a bit about what I did:
- Play a black - You'd either have to guess if I went high or low with black. If you thought I went high, you'd play the 10 and have enough to beat me in round 9. If you thought I went low you'd try to win with maybe 4 or 5 and have enough in the final round
- Play a white - You'd either have to guess if I went all in or played a low amount like 10 or 11. If you thought I went all in, you'd play enough to beat that and then win the last round with just a few left. If you thought I played low, you'd try to grab it with 12 or 13 and have the remainder left to win
After much debating, I decided all in was likely the most unpredictable play of them all, and therefore most likely to work. It was also the hardest case for you to counter, as you were unsure how many I had left after round 7.
Honestly, I thought you had beat me in round 4 - I suddenly realized that even if I played a zero, you'd be up 3-1 and firmly in the drivers seat, even though I had a big chip advantage. That resulted in me having to make a massive overpayment (didn't think it was that massive though!) to ensure you didn't go up 3-1. After that, it was a grind to try and win without giving up to many chips. Your play in round 6 was fantastic - I really thought you'd overpay by much more than that.
All in all, the whole finals was great to play with you, and I had a blast.
