Janko's in that same class of player, not sure why anyone would be fine with getting nothing for him. A late 2nd is not a good return at all.

Every team has lots of these types of prospects. Shinkaruk only fetched Granlund who, IMO, is not worth a 2nd.

I agree that a 2nd is probably all you get for any of them, but that is why prospects aren't traded usually, unless the team is doubting their progress.
Imagine if the team just kept trading their prospects for 2nds - where would that get you?
What a prospect would return in trade is not necessarily the same as what their value is to the team.
Shinkaruk, Poirier and Jankowski have about the same chance of becoming an NHL regular. In all likelihood, only one of them will (that's about their odds).
But that's why you want to have several of them. Throwing Jankowski back int the lake and fishing for another 2nd is non-productive.
