Kylington was already playing in a better league than Jankowski against professionals.
Klimchuk's alternative was the ECHL or NHL. We know the NHL wasn't an option, and the ECHL is a graveyard for most prospects.
Sometimes prospects sink, sometimes they swim. If you can defer that with Jankowski and give him a greater chance to swim by sending him back to college for that 4th season, I take it every time. It's yet to be seen whether he sinks or swims, but given how many young players struggled on the Heat this season, I wouldn't have liked his chances.
