The compensation pick transfers to the other team.

There is really no incentive for a team to trade for him, unless they want to dress him right away and put him in the lineup to help in the playoffs (which by all accounts he is not ready for).

The only reason the Rangers traded for Erixon is that if he wasn't signed before June 1st, he would go back to draft. Then the Rangers would have to pray and hope another team wouldn't draft him before they got an opportunity to.

Jankowski becomes an UFA. If there is only 1 team he wants to go to, all they have to do is wait and get him for free on August 15.

I suppose you could make an argument that someone may want to trade for his rights, but historically no one gives up a 2nd round pick+ for the rights to a pending UFA.
