Unless he is insisting on going to one team a la Erixon I'm sure they'll be able to get something a better than 51st pick for him... it's not exactly a deep year for NCAA free agents and teams weak on centre depth in the pipeline would probably see a guy like this ready to step into their system and begin learning, with 4 years of development time behind him, as way more valuable than a 30-40th pick which historically has really low odds of panning out.
If he gets traded and the other team doesn't sign him, does that compensation pick disappear? Or does the other team get it?
