Another thing to consider in regards to signing Hickey is that he or other rookies can go down to the ECHL team which the Flames also control. I think Hickey is physically ready for the ECHL and probably doesn't see himself finishing school anyways. Didn't look out of place on the World Junior team and by all means has a solid defensive game with his "Brodie-like mobility".
