The Isles are going to lose a top 4 RHD this off season when they trade Hamonic, so Wideman might be a fit for the short term.
Greiss has played slightly better than Halak has and is cheaper.
Isles have 24 year old JF Berube ready to assume the back up role, plus Gibson in the minors.
Cap hit would be a wash for the Isles with the Flames retaining $750k on Wideman.
Flames get a stop gap veteran starter for $5,250,000 next year and $4,500,000 the following year, then hopefully Gillies is closer to being ready.
Flames also free up a defensive spot for Nakladal.
Isles get a top 4 offensive RHD for $4,500,000 and save money on goaltending.
