Gaudreau does play a 200 ft game, but he isn't a defensive player. He is used in offensive situations primarily. Mangiapane not only plays a solid 200 ft game, but he is frequently used on the PK.
My best comparison is if Byron and Gaudreau had a hockey baby. Take Byron's tenacity, defensive awareness, and speed, and combine it with Gaudreau's offensive awareness, shiftiness, and golden hands.
Pack on 15 lbs and upwards of 3 inches and you've got one hell of a hockey player that could possibly play on any line, in any situation. Realistically I could see him as a solid middle 6 utility player.
