But realistically I think Perron would be just what the doctor ordered for this team. Should be able to get him on a similar contract to what he currently has and would be top 6 RW
Secondary options would be PA Parenteau as I think could sign to a 1 year deal and flip at deadline if needed.

Why aim so low? Ideally we add a legit 1st liner or we add a top two line forward with size, strength, and physicality. Perron is averaged sized and a 2nd liner. He does bring an agitating, pest like quality that we could use but he's going to be overpaid just like the 1st liners and the bigger guys so why don't we aim higher and actually try to fit our needs better?
If we move Wideman we should have a decent amount of money to work with.
Guys that I'd prefer over Perron/Parenteau include Stamkos, Lucic, Backes (move him back to RW), Okposo, Eriksson, E. Staal (have him on RW), Ladd and McGinn. Not sure how many of those are realistic but that's what the new UFA courting period is for. I'd rather pay big dollars to a guy who really fits our needs than slightly less big dollars for guys who don't quite tick all the boxes (Perron/Parenteau).
