In general I don't have much interest in undersized goalies. A big, athletic goalie is much more likely to turn out than a small, athletic one. The problem is screen shots. A small goalie can only cover a certain percentage of the net. You can be the most athletic guy in the world but you'll never stop the shots you don't see unless you're big enough to cover the majority of the net. That's why big, athletic guys are favoured and will continue to be favoured. Covering a high percentage of the net also helps prevent tip goals. Most goalies under 6'1 or 6'0 just leave too much space for pucks to drift in IMO. I know some will disagree and point to some exceptional player who has overcome his size but unless they really are the best goalie in their age group I think it's a bad risk.

Big, athletic with quick reflexes. We've got one of those in Gillies.
