That said, the problem with Sanchez development is for the past 2 years they've used him in the bullpen to fill holes rather than acquiring someone to do that while letting him develop his pitches and stamina in the minors (or majors if he could run with it). You don't learn to be a starter in the bullpen. Need to develop 4 pitches to be an effective starter and build your stamina and game management. Pitching one inning out of the pen throwing nothing but heaters and the odd slider is not conducive to that.
Not once in his career has Sanchez been left somewhere for a full year to just take the ball and pitch as a starter. Maybe it won't matter and he turns out great (looks good in Florida), but concencus among the talking heads throughout the league is that the Jays mismanaged Sanchez's development.
