The Flames still need two big, solid defenseman to play in the top five. I like the idea that Jokipakka could be that guy, but he has not yet shown enough to think this is so.

I really was hoping the Flames were going to nab Hamonic, and they still might seeing as we are right in the wheelhouse of where he wants to be, but with the expansion draft BS there really is no point because unless we over expose the forwards we won't be able to protect 4 defensemen like Gio/Brodie/Hamilton/Hamonic. Leave one of those guys unprotected and they are gone for sure.
Although, my hope is they offload Wideman and then I'm OK going into next season with our big 3, plus Jokipakka and Engelland taking turns in the top 4, with Nakladal and Wotherspoon as the 6/7's. Smid? Well who the heck knows I guess.
