RIP to one of Calgarypuck's own. Phanuthier.
Hey guys. I knew Edward personally. I have been feeling like crap the last few days. He's been on my mind so much. Edward was an amazing person. He was truly a gentle soul, very giving, thoughtful and passionate about life.
Edward contacted me many years ago via CP to tell me how much he loved my wedding work. He said that one day when he found the right girl, he would hire me to shoot his wedding. He kept that promise so many years later. He flew me and my assistant down to Lake Tahoe for his amazing wedding. We spent a glorious 3 days together shooting, chatting, eating, drinking and climbing. After the wedding he took us rock climbing on the way back to Sunnyvale. Dude was a crazy rock climber and I got to follow his international adventures in rock climbing on Facebook. He introduced me to the sport and I will never forget the confidence he gave me to conquer my fear of heights. As some of you know, I have ventured into a new business (tech related) so I would pick his brain about life in the Valley and was hoping to visit him and his wife this summer.
I found out about his passing from his wife 1 hour after they took him off life support. It felt like someone just hit me with a bat in the stomach. Even though we weren't close, I still have a special place in my heart for Edward. After all, how many guys pre-hire you for their wedding even before they have a girlfriend? RIP buddy. I hope there are mountains for you to climb wherever you are.
