Made a mistake anyways in what I wrote, technically 2016/2017 is Gillies's 3rd year pro, no? I imagine we'll have to wait until June before getting any clarity - but this could have a real impact on the Flames plans - we wouldn't be able to go out and be aggressive trade-wise on guys like Hamonic, unless we were willing to go down to protecting only 8 skaters, rather than the 7 and 3.
