Hobey Baker nominations happened early in the season, when Jankowski was playing hurt and when Jake Walman was on fire. The nominations are by the coaches and based on who they think are the top three players in the league, and then in the country. If you aren't hot when the nominations are made, you're not getting nominated. The fact that one of the top teams in the nation, and the defending national champions, has only two nominees says a lot. Obviously a team where no one player is considered bigger than the team.
Now I know there is going to be some hand wringing over this, but Jankowski can console himself in signing a pro contract and probably playing in the NHL, while the vast majority of those nominees are playing rec hockey and trying to find jobs post-college. Sucks to be the Big Jankowski.
