A couple things. I think there is a chemistry thing there. He looked like the odd man on the Backlund-Frolik line, but then made a few really heady plays some passes that resulted in scoring opportunities. I don't know what people expect of players coming up from the minors? With the defensive systems in place and the expectation of players to be responsible in their own zone first it is unlikely you are going to see any player step in and be a scoring threat or stand out in the offensive zone. I like what I see because of his play away from the puck. He makes good reads and he knows where to go on the ice to make space. There was a couple times last night where he was third man into the zone and skated his check away from the play to create open ice for his linemates. Very subtle play, but really important for a guy supporting two other guys expected to score.
