1) I've travelled extensively across the arctic and have yet to have a close encounter with a Polar Bear. A childhood friend/employee got mauled pretty bad from a barren land grizzly if that counts for anything.
2) I have also yet to hunt the most dangerous game. Typically I stick to shooting birds (ducks/grouse/ptarmigan).
3) No better way to spend the day than hunting with your dog.
I should also mention the biggest negative about Yellowknife is not the weather, its the social decay. That's only thing I really don't like about Yellowknife. All of the social problems of the north magnify in Yellowknife. A lot of people from the communities with addictions/mental health issues come to Yellowknife for legal (jail) or medical reasons and never leave. So you end up with a lot of intoxicated vagrants staggering around downtown getting into screaming matches and fights all the time.
The weather is great. Its one of the sunniest places in Canada. When its winter, its winter. And when its summer, its summer. It has none of that freeze/thaw, freeze/thaw, freeze/thaw hot mess that you get in southern Canada.
