I am going with the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society. It's a charity the helps spread information and treatment for the disorder. Hereditary hemochromatosis is a genetic disease that causes your body to absorb too much iron, and it will shut down your vital organs, possibly causing death. It is the most common genetic disorder in Canada. Luckily it is completely treatable, and cannot be transferred. By removing blood through donation several times a year, you can live a healthy life.
I don't have the disease, but I served as their treasurer and director for several years. I founded their annual golf event in Vancouver. The golf event is now in its fourth year, and has expanded to multiple cities across Canada. Even though I am not on the board anymore, I still support the charity, especially the golf event.
For more information, please contact me, or see their website of toomuchiron.ca.
