They already held the 3rd overall pick, so they only needed to trade for the 2nd.
To get that, they moved:
- Bryan McCabe and the Canucks' first-round pick in 2000 or 2001 to Chicago for 4th overall
- 4th overall and two third-round picks (75 & 88) to Tampa for 1st overall
- 1st overall to Atlanta for 2nd overall and a conditional third-round pick in the 2000 Draft, under the condition that the Thrashers not select either Sedin 1st overall
