Players can only be sent down after the deadline if they were recalled after the deadline, or if they're being sent down on a conditioning stint after returning from an injury.
They still have two regular recalls left, but they're not likely to use them until closer to the end of the season.
I suspect we'll be seeing more of these short-term injuries where guys could probably play if they had to, but won't so they can use emergency recalls.
