No, probably not that. The Flames have been good before and people still notice it.
Every fan base thinks their team is unlucky this way but that's because over the course of a long NHL season there are tonnes of first year players looking for their various first milestones. It happens to all teams, but fan bases are only noting it against their own.
Except for goalies without a shutout, we are cursed in that regard and some sort of ritualistic sacrifice must be made for it to stop.
