Not that it makes it right but there was certainly a fair share of blame throw Iginla's way when he was captain. He was also always known for his preparedness, intensity, and work ethic.
The captain can face blame if the team performs poorly but if you look at why this team failed, I don't think it would be because of the captain.
Goaltending and special teams were certainly bigger factors.
