Hey everyone,
I've had an idea. This season marks the 36th anniversary of the Calgary Flames. In those 36 years, we've had a whole lot of exceptional players play for our team.
I propose we start a Calgary Flames Hall of Fame on this board. Every year, starting in March, we would nominate potential members into the CFHoF.
Rules:
1. Potential entrants would have to have retired three years - or longer - before their induction. Players retired less than three years ago are ineligible.
2. Potential inductees would be established through a voting process, in which you would post your 10 most deserving players in a post. The eight players with the most votes would be put up for a vote.
For example, my list of the 10 most deserving players is:
Lanny McDonald
Kent Nilsson
Theoren Fleury
Joe Nieuwendyk
Al MacInnis
Miikka Kiprusoff
Doug Gilmour
Gary Suter
Hakan Loob
Jim Peplinski
3. From the pool of eight players, you'll vote for three to be inducted. If you vote for more than three players, none of your votes count. In order to be inducted, a player must garner at least 18% of the vote.
4. No fewer than 2 and no more than 4 players can be inducted in one year. One builder (coach, GM, executive, owner, etc.) can be inducted per year, but this is not mandatory.
What are your thoughts on this idea? If it's terrible, let me know. If it needs revisions, great, tell me. Perfect? Well, I'm sure it isn't, but if you think it is, say it.
